JUNE 2020 REAL ESTATE MARKET UPDATE

The Canmore and Banff real estate market has experienced an increase in activity since the first stage of Alberta’s relaunch. The number of new listings and sales nearly doubled in the month of May as compared to April. However, listings and sales volume still remain low in comparison to this time last year as the province works to reopen and return to business.

Properties that have closed over the last month, were listed near pre-COVID-19 prices and sold for anywhere from list price in multiple offers to 5% below list. In other words, while the Bow Valley real estate market stalled during the closure of the province, it appears to be moving forward from a near pre-COVID-19 state. We expect real estate transactions to steadily increase as the province reopens and everyone becomes accustom to the new manner in which one may buy and sell real estate.
